Real ale drinkers raising a glass to the 14th Scunthorpe Beer Festival
Real ale drinkers are raising their glasses to celebrate the 14th Scunthorpe Beer Festival.
The popular event, organised by the Scunthorpe and District branch of CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale), is expected to attract more than 500 thirsty beer drinkers across the four-day festival.

With more than 30 speciality real ales, ciders and perries on offer there is guaranteed to be a tipple to satisfy every pallet.
CAMRA chairman Mark Elsome said: “We have a huge range of good quality drinks on offer and there is definitely something to suit all pallets.
“We have real ales from four regions in the UK: Greater Manchester, Cumbria, the East Midlands and Yorkshire, as well as a selection from local Lincolnshire breweries.
“The festival is the ideal place for new real ale drinkers to come to try a tipple and experiment with different flavours.”
The event kicks off tonight (Thursday, September 22) at Campbell’s Bar at Scunthorpe Conservative Club, Doncaster Road.
Sessions will take place between 5.30pm and 11am this evening and admission is £2.
They will also take place for free between 11am and 4pm and for a price of £2 between 6pm and 11pm on Friday,
Sessions will also be held between 11am and 11pm – at £2 before 6pm and £3 after 6pm – on Saturday and for free between noon and 4pm on Sunday.
“We are hoping to attract more visitors than ever before to the festival,” said Mark.
“There are some wonderful speciality ales such as Urchins Rest which is a four per cent brown ale, Peach Melbear, a pale bitter made with peach and elderflower, and the very strong and popular India Pale Ale (IPA) called Jaipur.
“We are looking forward to another superb event and hope more young drinkers will come and enjoy the wonderful real ales.”
