Mr Hayes said: "Renewables already help to deliver energy security and green growth.

"Across the UK, renewable technologies could create up to 150,000 jobs across the country.

"I'm pleased to note many of those jobs and a significant amount of investment are in your area."

Winners included Scunthorpe-based industrial training charity Heta, which picked up the prize for excellence in skills and training.

Judges said it not only identified training needs within the industry but also had a proven track record of supplying candidates for emerging careers.

The awards were organised by Footprint Renewables.
