Police and other emergency services were unable to locate anyone in the water at the time and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading to reports being made.

It is believed that a man may have cycled halfway across the bridge on a white mountain bike where he dismounted and left the cycle before jumping from the bridge.

Police would particularly like to speak to those members of the public who made the reports to bridge toll staff.

Additionally anyone else who may have seen a man on a cycle, or who also witnessed the incident, is asked to contact Humberside Police on the non emergency number 101 quoting log number 332 of 28 February 2013.
