RESIDENTS have called for more police to patrol the streets of Crosby after two people sustained knife wounds on Saturday.
The call comes following a fresh appeal for witnesses from Humberside Police.

Digby Street was cordoned off after a double stabbing
Emergency services were called to an address on Digby Street, Crosby at 2.45pm to assist a man and a woman, who sustained knife wounds. The female victim was repeatedly stabbed.
Pat Day, secretary of the Crosby West Neighbourhood Watch Group, said: "We need more police on the streets of Crosby as the police that we have do not have the full support.
"Don't get me wrong the police that we have do a great job but we need more of them."
The pair have not been identified but they are still being treated at Scunthorpe General Hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The news of the incident broke on www.thisisscunthorpe.co.uk over the weekend.
Insp Mark Bishop from Humberside Police said: "These serious stabbings are being investigated by police , which is why we are making a fresh appeal for witnesses.
"The pair sustained serious stab wounds but they are not believed to be life threatening."
A man is still helping police with their inquiries.
Insp Bishop added: "The investigation team believe a disturbance between a male and a female may have started in the street, sometime between 2.30pm and 3pm.
"If anyone saw the disturbance or incident prior to the ambulance and police turning up , they are asked to contact us."

“where is people's personal responsibility in all this. My grannie and family are Jackson Road, Farting Ave. Great people, a sense of community and a sense of right and wrong. Very few cops then as know, so why blame the Police”

“I think we all agree more uniforms on the streets would be good, but if this incident happened inside the property no amount of uniforms will stop stuff like this. But we really have to get to a situation whereas if any foreign national is found guilty of a serious offence then at the end of any sentence they have to be deported, irrespective of where they come from. There has to be a point where a foreigner committing crime here forfeits the right to say here. No excuses.”

“If the chinese whispers I have heard are to be believed the disturbance was between non uk nationals. After these people are released what will happen to them? They will be allowed to stay in this country and probably carry on with their aggressive behavior. If a Uk national were to do such a thing in their country we would, after being dealt with by that country's judicial system then be deported faster than lightening to be banished from ever entering that country again!! The United Kingdom for some reason wants to keep hold of these law breakers when we have plenty of our own already!”

“Agree with that Old Pete, however I can count on one finger the number of times I have seen full police ponstables on foot patrol in Crosby this year.
Tougher sentencing and more approachable and accountable policing is what we need.
I will just add that I was confronted by a drink addled Eastern European on Saturday night on Diana Street. The look on his face when I responded with the few words of Polish that I know was priceless”

“In fairness to the police, it would take dozens of them to protect the public from lunatics like this. The courts are partly to blame; the police do their bit to bring these criminals to justice, but justice lets them (and us) down.”
