There was definitely a party in town when the stars of Disney on Ice skated by for its new show – Lets Party!

All the Disney Princesses like Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Ariel to name but a few were joined by the whole cast and Alice for the Mad Hatter's tea party, writes entertainment reporter Selina Maycock.

Celebrating the best events in life such as Halloween, Christmas, Birthdays, summer vacation and Valentines Day, the children's favourites got together for an adventure of love and laughter through life.

There was a fun party to kick-start the evening of celebrations, with the stars from Alice in Wonderland with the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Mickey and Minnie joined all the other characters for fun-filled frolics of musical chairs and a giant birthday cake that was bound to end up in pieces in more ways than one.

Tales from Fantasia, saw Mickey Mouse use his magic to sweep the floor with his mops. A colourful and creative score of skaters moved in sequence at speed and precision.

The formations made on the ice were both complex and creative – and when the lights dimmed the fluorescent colours added to the illusion.

My favourite part of the show was the celebration of love – where the fairy godmother showed Minnie the signs of true love, using the other fairytale couples who skated along to some of the hit songs from the films.

Baddies from all the fairytales got together for their own Halloween theme scene – with Cruella de Vil , Captain Hook and a few other grisly characters.

Mickey and his club house set off the summer vacation theme, complete with swimmers, surfers and lifeguards. My favourite part was seeing the real surfboard skate across the ice, as Goofy, Pluto, Donald, and Daisy joined the festivities.

A taste of the orient was brought to life with the dancers who joined in for the hula-hula dancing.

Christmas saw the cast of Toy Story show people what they were made of. Complete with piggy bank, troll, dinosaur, plus family favourites Woody and Daisy, there was definitely smiles all round at play time.

Mickey and Minnie arriving for the finale in a sleigh rounded over a truly magical evening as snow fell from the sky.

If you missed this show, Disney on Ice will be returning in November with Dare to Dream, at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena from November 20-24. Tickets go on general sale on Friday, April 8 at 9am. Visit www.sheffieldmotorpointarena.co.uk
