Riverbed eroded
NATIONAL Grid has already delayed the need to replace its gas pipeline under the Humber.

Engineers covered exposed areas with gravel-filled bags and placed concrete mattresses over the top.
The aim was to mimic seaweed and encour- age the settlement of sand and silt.

This novel approach ensured the pipeline could continue to operate normally.
The consultation is at a very early stage but it may be the best engineering solution to stop the new pipeline becoming exposed, is to put it in a tunnel, rather than an excavated trench. That could mean more disruption for people in and around Paull.
