CLEATHAM TROUT: A windy week for the fly caster, but fish were still caught on flies pulled through the waves when terrestrials were coming off the land. Otherwise, fish were to be found on the downwind side by fishing across and down with a slow sink line.

THORPE VALE TROUT: Windy and very wet at times, but good fish could be caught to Daddies and Hoppers on top by letting the flies drift without any retrieve.

Black and Peacock fished on a slow sink line also indicated that snails were on the move.

TOFT NEWTON TROUT: Weekly results for week ending September 4, 90 rods caught 231 fish, rod average 2.7. A slight improvement on the rod average in another very windy week. Unfortunately, the majority of fish have been on the down wind shore, so mostly safe from both bank and boat anglers.

Neil Deakin and Neil Mumford, from Sutton in Ashfield, managed to get their anchor to hold about 40 yards off the black pipe and caught around 40 fish to 5Ib in just a couple of hours on black lures fished on intermediate lines. If you can manage to cast into the wind, that's the place to head for.

Lots of fish feeding out over the middle on warm evenings. I had two drifts on Monday night fishing bushy wet flies with Claire and Harry and we had eight fish between us in less than an hour. A less windy week forecast, so hopefully an improving picture.

Best fish this week, 5Ib 10oz to Andy Malt, from Lincoln.
