We can set our sights high - Adkins
SCUNTHORPE United manager Nigel Adkins insists he is setting no points target in the club's battle for Championship survival.
But if they can average a point from each of their remaining 19 games, that will give them a total of 52 – and should be enough to keep them out of the bottom three.

Nigel Adkins.
The Iron though, are setting their sights much higher after a successful run of form which has seen them beaten just twice in the last 10 league games – and left them currently nine points better off than they were at this stage two seasons ago, when they were relegated.
Tomorrow they start a run of seven successive home games against teams in the bottom half of the table that could decide their destiny.
But Adkins warns they face a tough test against a Crystal Palace side that has suddenly found itself thrust into the middle of the relegation dogfight.
"They will be smarting from that 4-0 defeat at home to us earlier in the season," he declared.
"That was a result which galvanised them and they went on a good run after that.
"They have recently gone into administration and that has brought a good group of players even closer together."

“Stuart, I absolutely agree with you about the kit. All red, all yellow and all white as the three kits. Our 1960's Div 2 kit of white and blue was visible and was chosen for that very reason over the claret/blue.”

“The thing I think puts us in a stronger position is the fact that we have more strength in depth this time. With the recent loanee's and signing we look to have cover all over the field. There's no reason we can't establish ourselves in this division. We had a good turnout at QPR on Saturday, but its still a shame that we can't attract more at home. Up the Iron.”

“So far, so good, but the Championship's so tight a couple of defeats and you're right back in trouble. The quicker we get around the 50 point mark, the better!”

“Scunthorpe are doing well now because in my opinion Jones has settled in, Williams has settled down & Thompson is getting a run in the side. Hayes is playing better than he has ever played. Having said that I do wish Joe Murphy would stop wasting time & wondering around his area for twenty seconds every time he gets the ball. A big plus is we are'nt getting people sent off every game like we were at one time. Lastly what do supporters think of the current strip? I reckon the players must take a few seconds to see one another on the pitch before each pass. It is like wearing camouflage as they blend in with the crowd. Lets get some bright colours like they used to wear years ago.”
