£20 fines 'another way to tax motorists'
NEWS that motorists who leave their engines running while stationary could be fined £20 has prompted fierce debate.
Read this man's letter to the Scunthorpe Telegraph's Viewpoint column and then have your say.
IN YET another plan the council has thought up a scheme to raise more tax money from the motorist.
This time it's to fine motorists, who under certain conditions do not turn off their car engines.
This, it claims, will help stop the increase in greenhouse gases.
Why not go one step further? It is accepted that the human body breathes in air, extracts the oxygen and breathes out carbon dioxide (CO2), which is one of the worst of the greenhouse gases.
This is expelled the faster a person breathes so sports such as football, jogging, rugby etc must be stopped, and marathons must be a veritable CO2 factory!
Why not ban anyone moving faster than a snail and fine anyone breaking this speed limit or breathing faster than normal?
It should also be noted that contained in these greenhouse gases is a small amount of Nitrous Oxide, known commonly as laughing gas.
Why not devise a scheme to increase this so that despite being taxed out of existence, we can all laugh about it?

“Oh boy, what a beautiful legal challenge this would be. £20 revenue in a fine and and £10k to defent it. I guess the Council could be wrapped in legal challenges for the next three years.”
