'The Salvation Army is more important than ever'
DURING September, local Salvation Army members, friends and volunteers will be out collecting in the community to raise vital funds for the annual appeal.
Collectors will be going house-to-house and standing at Asda and Sainbury's supermarkets, and 100 per cent of all donations made to the appeal will go to help people in need.
A spokesman said: "This has been a particularly hard year for many people who have had to cope with job losses, poverty and loneliness. This is why the role of the Salvation Army is more important than ever.
"With cuts to the public funding we receive, public donations to our appeal are vital to ensure we can continue our work in mending broken lives."
