"This year we had a very good attendance at the auditions."
This year, more than 40 people attended the auditions at the Kimberly Performing Arts Centre, Enderby Road, Scunthorpe.
Mr Peers said: "I hate auditions because we only have space for two teams of six dancers.
"There were a lot more than 12 youngsters who were capable and good enough to be in the panto. We try to match up the groups so that they work together.
"There are a lot of kids in North Lincolnshire who have plenty of talent."
Mr Peers said he was looking for bright, happy and energetic children to be part of the Scunthorpe Sunbeams.
He said: "I hate to disappoint the children and it is a difficult thing to do turning them down, but sometimes showbusiness is about disappointment.
"There is a tremendous amount of talent in North Lincolnshire. This year we have introduced tap into the dance routines and we saw some incredible talents.
"We were looking for someone who can dance, has a great personality and is a happy and smiley person.
"We like to see somebody who has a special spark.
"We are absolutely delighted with the final 12 chosen and we are looking forward to working with them in rehearsals.
"It is a fantastic experience for the children and one they will remember for a lifetime.
"Anybody who is disappointed this year should not be disheartened and can audition again next year. We look for different qualities each year so you may be lucky next time."
The panto will run for a total of 54 shows at the Plowright Theatre in Scunthorpe from Saturday, December 8 to Sunday, January 6.
