Iron Trust react to Scunthorpe United chairman Steve Wharton's retirement announcement

The Iron Trust (Scunthorpe United Supporters Society) has reacted to Steve Wharton's statement that he intends to step down as chairman of Scunthorpe United Football Club at the end of the current season.

"The Trust notes Mr Wharton's statement of intent to step down as chairman in the summer," said the Trust.

"We do not yet know what the future holds for Scunthorpe United from the summer, but hope that it can include a strong supporters voice in a central role.

"We believe fans who back that ideal could make a big difference by joining the Iron Trust, as this would give the concept of supporter involvement a real mandate at our club.
