SCUNTHORPE United have made attacker Ramon Nunez their second signing of transfer deadline day.

The Leeds United front man has moved to Glanford Park on loan for an initial month, though is almost certain to stay until the end of the campaign.

Currently away on international duty with Honduras - whom he represented in last summer's World Cup, the 25-year-old can play as an attacking midfielder, out wide or as a striker.

He has been at Elland Road since the beginning of the season, on the back of a trial spell in West Yorkshire, but has so far made just two substitute appearances.

Nunez, who has spent four years of his career in Major League Soccer with FC Dallas and Chivas USA, will link up with his new team-mates next week.

“We have been chasing him for a few days now,” said caretaker manager Tony Daws.

“The difficulty is that he is away on international duty with Honduras, but he has agreed to come and join us and wiill offer us something different.

“He is someone who is quite lively who can play anywhere up front or wide.

“He is somebody who can give us a spark – and that is what we need.

“With Leeds flying at the moment, he has found it difficult to get a look-in there.

“As soon as we found out he might be available on loan, we moved quickly."
