United manager Brian Laws admitted earlier in the day he was keen to add a new face before the loan transfer deadline this afternoon, saying he was particularly bearing in mind longer-term prospects.
"I've had a couple of players recommended to me by good managers and they're worth having a look at," he said.
"If I brought them in it might not be for the team now, but maybe for January.
"I might be able to get them on loan at no cost to the club and if that's the case, that's a no brainer.
"If that's a possibility, I'll do that."
The loan window closed at 5pm this afternoon, with the Iron manager expecting plenty of business to be done.
"Since I've been in at Scunthorpe the phone's been busy, so there's nothing unusual about that," he said.
"I think a lot of managers, particularly in League One and Two will be trying to do some business before 5pm today.
"It always seems to be the mad day, everyone always seems to wait until the last day.
"I'm expecting a few twists and turns."

“On the contrary, I remember the pilgrimage to the opening of Scunthorpe's brand new Gregg's all too vividly. I also remember that our Pizza Hut had a waiting list!!!!”

“Deereyme....if rumours of the apocalyptic status of the clubs coffers are correct, not only are we not able to pay the guy, we need to hold a bake sale to pay for the lettering on his shirt.”

“Are you sure Gman? Certainly doesn't look 6ft 6 in that photo (unless the player in the white shirt is ten yards away from him).”

“Certainly not averse to a bit of striking support, especially since I'm not 100% confident in Nathan Ellington's ability to score goals anymore (hope I'm wrong). Obviously needs must for now given the financial situation, its certainly not desirable having four strikers on loan/short-term deals at any one time.
Know absolutely nothing about this guy...hopefully in a few months we'll be saying "the best Adda since Carol Vorderman"”
