FORMER Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins will take Southampton to a Premier League managers’ arbitration tribunal, according to reports.

The 48-year-old was surprisingly given the boot by Saints in January despite an upturn in results which saw the club three points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.

National newspaper the Daily Telegraph says Adkins has been unable to reach an agreement with executive chairman Nicola Cortese over the terms of his exit and will now face his old employer in court this summer.

The ex-Iron boss is being represented by the League Managers’ Association as he takes legal action over what he considers to be a breach of contract. A date has yet to be set for the tribunal, although it is suggested it will take place in the close season.

“Nothing surprises me aboput Cortese. Remember how he tried to get Nigel to resign from Scunny so he didn't need to pay compensation. An amount that was hardly a king's ransom to them anyway!

I hope Adkins absolutely takes them to the cleaners.

I hope that Southampton get relegated.

I hope Adkins get the kind of Chairman he deserves in his next position.”
