Scunthorpe United complete Jordan Robertson signing
SCUNTHORPE United have this morning made Jordan Robertson their first signing of the summer.
The 23-year-old striker has penned a one-year-contract at Glanford Park, on the back of leaving Scottish Premier League side St Johnstone.
A junior at Sheffield United, where he was highly thought of, the six foot three inch front man has made almost 70 league appearances, though not more than 15 at one club.
Robertson has had loan spells at Torquay, Northampton, Dundee United, Oldham, Southampton, Hungarian side Ferencvaros and Bury – where he played under current United manager Alan Knill.
He is still trying to rebuild his career after serving 18 months for causing death by dangerous driving during a crash on the M1 on Christmas Day, 2008.
Robertson will add a different option to an Iron forward line which is lacking in numbers following the club's relegation from the Championship.

“Sharpe? You mean Sharp surely?
All the players we have brought here and have gone on for profit have been strugglers. All should be given a chance irrespective of their career or personal happenings (he wasn't drunk and didn't leave the scene).”

“Sounds like he will be the answer to all our needs, loan spells at Torquay, Northampton, Dundee, Oldham Bury and a few other clubs, all at 23 years of age, and obviously not impressed any of them enough as to be offered a contract.
This signing must be instead of the £500,000 the club where going to spend during the past January window !!!, Scunthorpe United have upped the stakes in taking the supporters for mugs, I must rush tomorrow morning to renew my season ticket, I hope that the club still have some left, I would think that there has been a really big rush today after this news, hope you enjoy your holidays this week AK, you must be over the moon after getting a signature at last!
It is well past the time when Wharton calls it a day, and the club elect a new board, we will be down to 3,000 gates this season, and very few away fans this season, that elevated last seasons average to about 5,800.
Same old Scunny, **** ground (not spent on it for over 20 years), no new stand, same old pre-match **** from the old guy (come on boys and girls, lets get behind the lads !!), same old 60s music, same stanchions to obstruct season ticket holders view (not as though you are going to miss anything), same old scoreboard that is not bright enough to see what's on it, same ticket system that knocks at least 500 off the gate, not even a tin of paint bought to brighten the place up a bit, and the team heading back to League 2.
The club has done exactly the same as the year before, offloaded the better players and signed anyone that has not been taken on by any other club, as long has they are from League 2 or non-league.
Hooper, McCann, Hayes, Sparrow, Woolford offloaded 2009 season.
Murphy, Murfin, Wright and Sicknote offloded 2010
I am just hoping that our new signing is as good a value as our last dip into the Scottish transfer market, when we unearthed Rob Jones for a snip at £350,000 plus £300,000 a year wages ha ha!
Chairman and Board, please get out.”
