Scunthorpe United confirm Mark McChrystal signing, but Paul Reid's ban is upheld
Scunthorpe United have failed in their bid to get skipper Paul Reid's red card overturned.
A Football Associaiton disciplinary panel met today to review referee Eddie Ilderton's decision to send off the defender for use of an elbow during Saturday's game with Notts County, but they felt it should stand.

The decision to uphold the ban, confirmed by the club this evening, means Reid faces a three-match suspension - starting in tonight's League One game with Bury at Glanford Park.
He will also miss Saturday's visit to Doncaster Rovers and the home clash with Bournemouth on December 8.

In light of Reid's suspension, the Iron have brought in Tranmere Rovers centre-back Mark McChrystal on loan.
He goes straight into the squad to face the Shakers, having penned a deal to stay at Glanford Park until December 22.
McChrystal, 28, is a former Wolves trainee who moved to Tranmere in January 2011 from Northern Irish side Derry City.
He played 21 times for them in League One last season, scoring his only goal against the Iron in a 1-1 draw at Prenton Park on the final day of the campaign.
This term though he has failed to feature for Rovers, who currently top League One.

“I didn't think I was being being that rude. The word began with t, not w or b. Anyway it's still true.”

“The F.A. are a bunch of "******s". They are seldom right but never admit when the're wrong. The Ref is different. He has to make an "on the spot" decision and we have to accept it. Perhaps he should be able to say later that he may have been harsh. It is just a shame that a player has to sit out three games when there is doubt.”
