“Fair point ironite but the flip side of your argument is equally valid. Were he to keep them up (doubtful, I agree) it would be tremendous for him. If they go down, that's nothing more than people expect and the team has played the sort of football which would look odds on for a return to the Premier League, if they can be kept together.
Adkin's record is so good to date, I can't honestly see that a blip with Reading woud have a massive impact on his future as a manager. Coaches with very indifferent CV's seem to be able to move between clubs virtually at will.
As for most things in life you never know what Option B would have brought once you've chosen Option A.
Whatever decision he makes, most of us from this neck of the woods will be wishing him well after his unbelieveably shabby treatment by Southampton.”

“Don't do it Nige. History will probably judge you on what happens between now and at the end of the season. If Southampton go down, they'll be vilified for getting rid of you....if you end up at Reading and they go down (which is extremely likely), it'll be a permanent blemish on your record that you'll have done very little to influence, it is almost April after all and they do look well and truly doomed.

However, get a club the size of Leeds back into the top-flight after so many have tried and failed.....”
