SCUNTHORPE United's Championship clash with Preston North End this afternoon has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.

Referee Darren Sheldrake made the decision at noon following a second inspection of the Glanford Park playing surface.

Parts of one of the goalmouths were frozen solid, despite being under frost sheets, and with temperatures struggling to stay much above zero, he took the decision that the game could not go ahead.

The bottom-of-the-table clash had been an eagerly awaited one for both sides, who are in desperate need of a win to try to kickstart a climb out of the bottom three.

“It looks as though you are being outnumbered O'Moggie, by genuine long term supporters that are very much hurt by the way OUR CLUB is being operated, at the end of the day, it is OUR CLUB, and it is not asking too much for the so called management to address us supporters. And by addressing, I do not mean for half a dozen players to take turns in preaching a load of basic rubbish each night in the ET.

I am beginning to think that O'Moggie is just a non-attending wind up merchant that gains pleasure in winding up supporters that pay money every week to watch the club go down hill, no one can actually beleive what O'Moggie writes on here ha ha!”

“Absolute joke, the club has at the moment a non league set up and a non league mentality, with the likes of chief happy clapper moggie condoning and praising everything the club does or fails to do.Why do we have to listen to the ickle old scunthorpe mentality, grow some balls as a championship club and make every effort to stay in this division. Also instead of certain players giving their same comments weekly, can Wharton express his vision for the club in the near future please."UP THE IRON"!!!”

“Changing the subject a little is there any signs or rumours of a second strker comeing into the building before the window closes ? seeming Bara said that its going to be a hard month in feb with so many games and he doesnt think that he will be playing the same team each match. We really need another striker and we DO HAVE THE MONEY to get such a player in.Also it was a long way to drive (148 miles each way) to find the game had been cancelled, lets hope things like this get sorted out because i will not be comio the re-arranged match as i can't afford it.”

“Oscar - £5200 for a Geofleece that will protect down to -9.

Shove your comments about stadium and mega signings. We need to get the basics right. How many games have we had to call off because the present method of selotaped bin liners fails to work?

I just Google in the problem and find the solution. Are the club not capable of that? How much revenue have they lost when 2000 PNE fans turns out to be 500 on a Tuesday night.

    Carry on clapping Brigg Boy.”

“Now lets see what you lads have been expressing a desire for over the last few days -
12,000 seater stadium with bars, resturants, executive boxes, first rate floodlights, undersoil heating, state of the art training facilities, and a railway station that will be used once a fortnight. I almost forgot the topclass players on top class wages.
You really need to get some sort of grasp of football finance.
This attitude of 'lets give it a go, spend the money and if we go bust, well at least we tried' will have the club in ruins.
I know that you don't like the happy clappers having an opinion and that you will be on soon, shouting me down in your infantile way, for daring to disagree with you. But sometimes you need to swallow your pride and admit that the happy clappers know better.”

“Total joke..lickle little Scunthorpe punching above our weight, can't even get a game on. The re arranged game with Preston will have less fans there, so more lost revenue. We'll also get Bara bleating when we're playing Sat-Tues-Sat constantly about injuries and suspensions.

This is a sad, sorry season to date and we've just not had the message from the hierarchy at GP that we really are a Championship club on or off the field.

The great Bill Nicholson once said "It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high... so high, in fact, that even failure will have in it an echo of glory!"

Scunthorpe United are the polar opposite of this. We are a little club with an inferiority complex, who don't believe we should be where we are. Basics like getting a game played should not be beyond us”

“here we go again, we are an embarrassment to the championship, i felt sorry for the crowds of preston supporters i saw heading back to the railway station, we are a championship club with the management of a none league club, i hope we get a public anouncement from the on this, and i dont blame graham colby the groundsman, he only has the tools that are made available to him.”

“Whatever they do down there sircliffy, the few HAPPY CLAPPERS will come on here and sing the clubs praises.

At the end of the day, it will be the club that loses out financially, because instead of the 2,000 Preston fans that either turned up, or suspended their trip on Saturday, there will be about 250 turn our on a Tuesday evening.

Never mind, the yearly balance sheet will still show a loss of £450,000 whatever money passes in or out of the club!!”
