The opening three games of the new season brought some entertaining fare in super, sunny weather.

David Brown hit an unbeaten 50 as Scunthorpe Scorpions set a target of 130 for six at Hibaldstow, for whom off-spinners Lol Waghorn (three for 27) and Tom Taylor (three for 34) were among the wickets.

The hosts came within four runs of matching the Scorpions, finishing their 14 overs on 126 for 7, thanks chiefly to Dale Coy, who hit 27.

Scunthorpe United goalkeeper Sam Slocombe bowled a decent spell for the Scorpions.

Kieran Lindley set a blistering pace as Scunthorpe side Appleby-Frodingham looked likely to set a huge score against Luddington at Brumby Hall.

But once he was out for 42 the Isle of Axholme side wrestled back some control with the Steelmen finishing on 124 for 5, Zen Akter making 30 not out, with Jonathan Wroot picking up three for 24.

Yet Ludd were always behind the required run rate and finished 29 runs short of Frod's target, Jamie Belton top scoring with 29, while A Sebastian was Frod's most successful bowler when taking 3 for 26, all  in the same over, late in the innings.

Broughton won their opening fixture when seeing off Normanby Park by 20 runs.

Broughton scored 123 for 7 when batting first against their young opponents, then restricted them to 103 for 5 in reply.
