Nicky Ajose has appealed to Scunthorpe United fans to turn jeering into cheering.

The on-loan Peterborough front man says it is 'disappointing' when he finds himself the subject of negative comments from the stands.

And while he admits he is yet to establish himself in the Iron first-team, Ajose believes he is getting better.

"Obviously you hear things when you come on the pitch, the fans are a bit fickle, I would say, at times," he said.

"But that's football, you just deal with it.

"We want them to keep behind the team. It's not nice to hear jeering of any players, not just myself.

"It doesn't affect me, it's part of football really. It's obviously disappointing but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

"Saturday (at AFC Wimbledon) was my first game in a while and hopefully I can stay in the team.

"I think I'm getting better as I go along. I think I've done well recently.

"I got my chance on Saturday and hopefully I can stay in the team now."

So far, his spell at Scunthorpe hasn't worked out as well as the 20-year-old hoped.

Having struggled for game time, last week's FA Cup tie was his first full 90 minutes for the club.

"It's been an experience – some good things, some negative things," Ajose said of his time at Glanford Park.

"I want to play as much as possible, so I'm not as happy as I would be if I was playing.

"When you're not playing it's frustrating, but the team's done well so you've just got to keep doing well in training and when you do get your chance, you've got to take it.

"I just want to play as many games as possible and hopefully get some good results while I'm in the team."

“If Ajose is a straight swap for O'Connor, SUFC have the bum deal. Barry Fry is smart while SW is clueless in all matters football except counting the money.

    Is Laws involved here ?

Unfortunately, Ajose isn't the only useless one. Many are out of contract in the summer and know that SW will let them go to save money (who can blame him if they are earning £200k per man) but in the meantime, of course, they can't be bothered.”

“You know I suggested the other week that players should maintain radio silence rather than bang on about how they are going to play in the ET? Well.......”

“he was just awful on Saturday. I thought the fans gave him a chance for half an hour, but he couldn't trap, pass, or hold a ball up, just terrible. He needs to look at himself, and ask why the fans react after paying at least £17 to watch him?”

“Seeing as the world passed us by in the summer whilst AK hung on to the very last breath on signing him there is no wonder that when we do eventually get him here he doesn't set the pitch alight that fans get frustrated.

I for one hopes he gets a start as a forward this week alongside Dagnall and the left wing is covered by Barcham. If he starts banging some goals in then he will soon have the fans on his side.”
