Scunthorpe Utd: Andy now believes he has found his Wright position
FULL-back Andy Wright knows that opportunity now knocks for him at Scunthorpe United.
After three years as a back-up player, he has the chance to establish himself as first choice right-back.

BIG CHANCE: Full-back Andy Wright.
With club skipper Cliff Byrne only just back in training again after seven months out with a back problem, Wright begins his third successive match, against Preston tomorrow.
“The manager has shown his faith in me and, of course, it’s an opportunity,” he confessed.
“When they have come round before, I have maybe not grasped them.
“It’s up to me to do everything I can this time.”
Wright also feels that regular football will help him become a better player.
“I never realised it before but the older pros were always saying it’s all about playing games,” continued the scouser. “When I went out on loan to Grimsby last season, I started to play consistently.
“It helped me become a bit more confident and a bit more relaxed.
“And hopefully I can now show that sort of form for Scunthorpe.”
The versatile Wright also now sees himself as a right-back and not the holding midfield player he arrived as.
“It’s that old question of versatility – it’s okay if it works for you, but not if it works against,” continued Wright.
“It’s about finding your true position.
“I played all my younger days in midfield. I saw that as my position and that is what I first came here as.
“But I would like to play right-back now.”

“I like the player. Vastly improved and solid with a modicum of pace. Used to worry me with his tackling but he seems to have got that sorted now.
Well done Andy.”
