ANDY Barcham has dismissed any concerns Scunthorpe United will struggle for goals this season.

And the summer signing has put himself forward as the man to get them.

Able to play up front or on the wing, Barcham has already struck twice in pre-season – a run of form he is eager to continue once the real action gets underway.

"I like to think I can help get the goals," said the former Gillingham attacker, who found the net 14 times in 86 appearances for his old club.

"Over the last couple of seasons that's what I've been adding to my game.

"I've been setting myself targets and I've been achieving, goal wise, what I wanted.

"Hopefully I can bring some more goals to the team. It would be good for me and good for the team.

"I do set myself targets on certain things. How many goals is one of them, but I haven't set it just yet. I wanted to get pre-season under my belt first.

"For me, it's all new.

"It's a different team, different players, playing a different way and different styles.

"But the more games I play, the more used to it I'll get.

"I'm just trying to take everything in and do as well as I can."

Barcham believes adapting to life in North Lincolnshire off the pitch will help him to adjust better on it.

The 24-year-old is in the process of moving closer to Glanford Park – a switch he hopes to complete as soon as possible to free up his focus for football.

"I've just got a place up here so hopefully that will help things to go a bit smoother," he explained.

"Moving is really stressful.

"I've been in a hotel and it's horrible – when you get back from training you just see the same four walls.

"It will be nice to have my own place.

"Everything's a bit up in the air, I've got to sort out my place back home and here.

"Hopefully I'll get it done as quickly as possible so I can get some normality back. It will be easier then to just concentrate on the football.

"I'm used to just going to training and coming home with my fiancee there.

"It's not like that at the minute so it's really different. Sometimes it does affect you.

"Hopefully it hasn't affected me but when I get that normality back it will be much better.

"The lads have been really welcoming and the management staff have as well."
