Scunthorpe Utd: Brass wants Iron to build on Trophy triumph
Assistant manager Chris Brass has called on Scunthorpe United's players to build on Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory over Hartlepool United when they resume their search for a first League One win of the season tomorrow.
Bobby Grant's double - his fifth goals in three games - sunk Pools to give United their first Glanford Park success since manager Alan Knill's first home game in charge against QPR back in April.

Chris Brass has largely been pleased with the Iron's performances this season even though they are still yet to win in League One.
Three draws and two defeats in their first five league matches means the Iron are languishing at the bottom end of the embryonic league table.
And though at present unconcerned by their standing, Brass is hoping for three points when Colchester United arrive in North Lincolnshire tomorrow.
"In respect of form I think we're doing okay," Brass said.
"The report from school would be 'doing well, but room for improvement'.
"We've been punished for making mistakes, but that happens. Unfortunately, over the course of the season, we've been making too many.
"Successful teams build their ethos on clean sheets and it's pleasing we had a second one of the season on Tuesday. Now we're expecting to get that tucked into the league.
"You've got to get any level of momentum in football, it doesn't matter whether that's a training ground game or a first-team game.
"You have to have that desire to win and on Tuesday, we had that more so than the opposition.
"Getting that win hopefully helps settle people down because for whatever reason, when we first came through the doors, there seemed a level of nervousness at home, even amongst the fans.
"It's good to get that win, but we've played okay without winning at home.
"Success is often built from a successful home record and we're no different, we want that here.
"Colchester have started well but it's pleasing we're slowly but surely getting an understanding of what's expected."
Brass confirmed that the Iron are expecting Michael O'Connor to be fit to face the U's having recovered from a muscular problem which has ruled him out of the past three games.
Damien Mozika will also be in with a shout of making his Iron debut, on the back of his transfer deadline day move from Bury, despite being troubled by a minor calf problem earlier in the week.
It presents the Iron management team with the sort of selection poser they have rarely experienced this term, with the starting XI too often picking itself.
"Having Michael (O'Connor) back is bonus," continued Brass.
"He's a good player and now we've got a lot of good midfielders vying for possibly two or three places.
"It makes it interesting and keeps those players on their toes.
"If you've got the shirt, you'll keep it if you're consistently performing well. I think everybody can see that now.
"The sort of conundrums you want to be having when it comes to selection is 'who we're going to be leaving off the bench?', not 'who's going to make the starting XI?'.
"Slowly we're getting to that situation. It's always healthy having better players through the door and not having people getting in the team by default."
The Iron will face a Colchester team who have made a mixed start to the season.
The U's, managed by Lincoln-born John Ward, have won only two of their five league matches so far, but have scored four goals in each of those victories.
Leading their attack is former Scunthorpe loanee Kayode Odejayi, while another ex-united loanee, full-back Michael Rose, is likely to be on the bench.

“I am happy that Ryan Lowe went to Wednesday because they are an ambitious club who are worthy of his talents not a small town Lincolnshire club who don't have any serious competition for supporters.Surely you admit that no supporter begrudges a player moving on to better himself even when he is going to retire at any said club.I will be supporting the Owls quest to beat Charlton & your team against the Blunts next week.Yes it's me.”

“@scunnyworker
Togwell played well on Tuesday - he put in some good tackles. I think he does a good job playing in front of the defence.”

“As far as I'm aware, we've signed one player from you. How does that equate to a "divine right"?! You're clearly not over him, otherwise you wouldn't be obsessing over this. Why aren't you equally obsessed with Lowe's move to Wednesday after claiming he was going to stay with Bury? Surely that is a more suitable subject for your ire? Unless, of course, you're not over Knill?!”

“Like i said before tweety pie aka (Eddie murphy) i am well over his departure we have all moved on but stealing our players just stokes up the fires again. You don't have a divine right to poach our players just because you are our former manager.”

“The only problem Alan Knill faces is keeping all of those subs on the bench happy,he has certainly inherited a quality squad of players who will definitely punch above their weight in mid table.League 1 sides who are promoted have a strong physical prescence in midfield and with the addition of Le Sulk from Bury fc your club will win more than it loses.”
