CHRIS Dagnall has brushed off concerns surrounding Scunthorpe United's lack of cutting edge in attack.

After a performance against Preston North End which merely highlighted the Iron's need for another forward, the scouse striker is sure he can provide enough goals to propel his side into the upper echelons of League One.

A solid start can be converted into an encouraging one should United triumph over Oldham Athletic tonight, with Dagnall keen to add to his solitary strike from the penalty spot in the 2-0 Carling Cup win over Accrington Stanley.

"In the league, it has only been two games (without scoring) so I am not going to worry about it," said the 25-year-old.

"When I got 20 goals at Rochdale, I didn't score in the first five games and I didn't score in the last eight.

"It would be nice to get a first league goal this season.

"(But) that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

"When they come along, they come along in bucketloads."

Even a solitary goal from the front man tonight could be enough to keep up with the early pace-setters.

"When we look at the league table, we are looking toward the top rather than there being a big gap between the top teams and ourselves," concluded Dagnall.

"So hopefully the first win will come tonight."
