Scunthorpe Utd: Fatigue could be issue at Wednesday - Togwell
Fatigue could hinder Scunthorpe United’s hopes of recording their first League One win of the season today, according to midfielder Sam Togwell.
The Iron’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday has been made all the more difficult by their gruelling Carling Cup effort in midweek.

Alan Knill’s side pushed Premier League Newcastle United all the way at Glanford Park, before falling 2-1 in extra-time.
But playing 120 minutes just two days before their Hillsborough visit is likely to take its toll.
“I’m sure Sheffield Wednesday were rubbing their hands together,” Togwell said of Thursday’s defeat.
“But we’ve got to deal with it. We’ve got to make sure we recover right and then go again today.
“We’re not going to use it as an excuse but obviously people are going to be tired, you can’t hide the fact.
“Whether the gaffer rotates the squad, I don’t know, but I’m sure every player will say they’re fit enough to play the game because they want to play.
“(Sheffield Wednesday) are a good team, and have brought plenty of new players in – but so have we, and away from home we feel we’re playing really well at the moment.
“We proved that last week when we came back from 2-0 down at Charlton, who are supposedly the best team in the league.
“We’re full of confidence, so hopefully we can prove that again.”
To do that, Togwell knows United must fix a leaky defence.
“We’re conceding, that’s the problem,” he said.
“If you look at the goal difference, we’re on -1 at the moment, so we’re conceding more than we’re scoring.
“That’s not ideal, and you’re not going to win games if that happens.
“We’ve got to try to keep them out at one end and put them away at the other.
“We’ve had the most shots in the league, so we’re obviously doing something right.
“We’re creating chances, we’re just not converting them.
“Soon enough we’re going to convert them, take the lead in a league game and keep it.”

“Wharton should have put his foot down with Wednesday. They seem to have forgot when we did them a similar favour a couple of years or so back. A load of balls about the modern game. What a set of apologists and excuse makers come on here. Get real.”

“Ah yes Oscar, those were the days. Ashbyville saturday afternoon, a few quick pints in the Queensway afterwards then saturday night out. Footy again 10.30 sunday morning before a liquid lunch.
Now it's a pint on sunday lunch followed by a nap in the chair.”

“Professional sportsmen - come on get stuck in on the pitch - we don't need "we told you so" excuses.”
