DOMINIC Green will get another chance to impress Scunthorpe United manager Alan Knill.

The Iron face Halifax tomorrow (3pm), but, whereas Green and fellow trialist Stephen Brogan will be there, Mustafa Tiryaki, after failing to make the grade, will not.

"He scores goals at the level he played at, and he's powerful," said Knill.

" I just felt we already had that in Jordan Robertson, we had pretty much the same sort of player and I didn't need another one like it.

"But if anybody asked me for a striker I'd recommend, I'd say he is good."

But former Peterborough winger Green is still under consideration.

"I have always liked him – he's a clever player who always finds little holes, but it seems his career has stalled completely," continued the Iron boss.

"When you talk to him, he has a real desire to get going again.

"In the games, he has given us a little bit but I am looking for a lot more from him because he has got a lot more in him.

"He will play tomorrow and we will make a decision after that."

Michael O'Connor, on the other hand, will not feature at the Shay.

"He has not trained yesterday, so the chances are he isn't going to kick a ball before tomorrow," added Knill.

"I can't put a time on when he will be back, but I'd like to think he will be fit next week, but I don't know about that."

Another player yet to feature in pre-season, Garry Thompson, is expected to return for his first taste of action this season.

"Thommo will take part in some of it," concluded Knill.

“If the rumours of Watford making a 500,000 bid are true, then we haven't got a sniff of getting him.”

“Let O'connor go and go all out for Le Fondre we need another Billy Sharpe or Hooper Adam is the man that can fill those shoes with the passion he has for the game. Knill says we have the money so go for it mucker and lets get the iron back where we belong.

    IRON TILL I DIE”

Next week for Peterborough more than likely.”
