Scunthorpe Utd: Iron won't look to extend Ajose loan spell
Nicky Ajose's loan move to Scunthorpe United 'hasn't really worked' admits manager Alan Knill.
And as a result, the former Manchester United youngster will not be returning to Glanford Park when his current spell with the Iron ends in early January.
-

Nicky Ajose has struggled to make an impact during his time on loan with Scunthorpe United.
Big things were expected of Ajose when he moved to United in September.
He had been one of Knill's top targets for the summer, on the back of scoring 13 times in 28 league games for Bury last term.
But the 20-year-old has struggled to reproduce anywhere near that sort of form for the Iron, starting only four matches in three months, and he will head back to London Road after the Iron's trip to Hartlepool on January 2.
"We're not going to extend," said Knill of the loan deal earlier today.
"It's been a frustrating time for Nicky and for us.
"He had done really well for me at Bury last season, scoring a lot of goals, and got a good move to Peterborough on the back of it.
"It hasn't worked at Peterborough and we thought coming here in a different environment might get the best out of him.
"If I'm honest, it hasn't really worked here though."
One of Ajose's final chances to impress the Iron will be against the Shakers on Boxing Day, though he faces a battle to even make it into Scunthorpe's matchday squad having been outside of the 16 during their last two matches.
He also faces a fight for his future at Peterborough, where only last month he was branded 'a disappointment' by Posh boss Darren Ferguson.

“I was not wrong so I have not been "caught out" - there was a deal in place but it has now been cancelled (last Monday to be exact). O'Connor is still off to Posh next month. Your error was more a basic lack of football knowledge and I educated and enlightened you (free of charge).”

“P.doff - I recently made a comment which was incorrect and you took great joy in pointing it out to me. I didn't like being wrong but I was, and I put my hand up, accepted it and appologised for my error.
These guys have caught you out, hook, line and sinker. Instead of calling them names and trying to belittle them, why don't you just accept you were wrong and it will be forgotten about tommorrow. (probably)”

“Another one!!!! - I bet you're nowhere to be seen after Boxing Day. Sent on here by the club as a firefighter just like Farmer Giles. Are you related to the chairman as well?”

"Can't get rid of Ajose - he is part of a pre-agreed deal between him and O'Connor. Unfortunately we are stuck with him."
