Scunthorpe Utd: Jennings facing scan on broken metatarsal
Manager Alan Knill has confirmed Connor Jennings has become the latest name to be consigned to Scunthorpe United's injury list.
The 20-year-old striker broke a bone in his foot during training yesterday and heads to Leeds today for a scan on the problem.

The Iron are yet to determine how long the former Stalybridge Celtic front man will be sidelined for, but such injuries usually carry an absence of at least a month.
It's the latest in a season-long spate of injuries which has seen key players like Cliff Byrne, Jimmy Ryan, Damien Mozika and Jordan Robertson miss large chunks of the campaign.
"We're all disappointed, but no more than the lad himself. I'm gutted for him," said Knill, whose side were training at their indoor facility at Grove Wharf when the injury occurred.
"We'd already trained for 40 minutes before without any problem and were just about to do a little bit more for him.
"He just put his foot down and at first I thought he'd turned his ankle, but he said he'd felt something crack in his boot.
"We came back and found out he's broken his fifth metatarsal."
Jennings has only been a United player for less than a fortnight, after completing his move from Blue Square North side the Celts for an undisclosed fee.
He came off the bench to play the final 19 minutes of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Colchester United, after which he was described as being 'a breath of fresh air' by Knill.
"It's disappointing for everybody," added the United boss.
"It's one of those things and we seem to keep getting those things. I think that's everybody that we've signed that's had an injury.
"I don't think it's anything to do with the surface or the training ground, it's just bad luck.
"Connor will be back whenever and I'm sure he'll come back with the same attitude."

“NilforKnill - this is a fresh article that you haven't got your mates to vote on. You remain shallow and narrow. See you on here after today's loss.”

“Think we need Josh back in nets for this one!!!! bit bigger that Sam who's a bit lightweight to cope with the heavy gang.... Scunny 7/4 to win!!! thought would be longer odds than that on this one!!! anyway, up the iron”

“Oh well, looks like Knill (among other strengths !!) is an unlucky manager. A strong centre half is needed. Stevenage have no subtlety, they just employ the battering ram. Forecast 0-3.”

“NilforKnill,
Your comments get more and more pathetic by the week.
You state that you broke a Metatarsal and ran a half marathon a week later, probably the remaining four bones in your foot are as thick as your head!!!!!
Get well soon Connor, cannot wait to see you playing for us pal.
I believe that the training ground belongs to our Chairman, hope he hasn't doctored the surface, so that he can claim sick pay for the many players that appear to get injured on it.
Tough tast for us on Sat and Tuesday, maybe we should pray for a good hard frost.
UP THE IRON, GIVE IT YOUR BEST GUYS.”

“NilforKnill, read the report, he hasn't broken a bone in his toe, those bones are called phalanges not metatarsals”

“When will our injury woes end? Ryan, Robertson and Jennings were almost instant sick notes and Mozika was not far behind. Gutted.
Stevenage looked rampant against Rochdale and we are going to need to field a strong team out on Saturday to ensure that the decent start to the New Year continues.”

“Gutted to have 'hurt' his little toe on his foot?
I broke my metatarsal and less than a week later, still managed to run a half marathon.
If it was his big toe, I could understand.
How many players before the year 2000 were out with metatarsal injuries?”
