Scunthorpe Utd: Jennings not fazed by step up to League One
Signing for a Football League club is a dream come true for Connor Jennings.
The 20-year-old striker yesterday became Scunthorpe United's first recruit of the January transfer window when he penned a two-and-a-half year deal from Stalybridge Celtic.

It comes amid one of Jenning's best ever seasons, having found the net 19 times for his former club – a tally he is hoping to build on with the Iron.
And though keen not to put any pressure on himself, the focused front man insists he is not fazed by the leap from Blue Square North to League One.
"I don't feel any pressure," he said.
"I'm enjoying the job, it's what every boy dreams of.
"Hopefully it won't take time to adapt and I can go straight in there, but we'll just have to see.
"I thought I did well in my first training session and settled in pretty well.
"I think next week I can settle in even more with the lads, have a full week with them and take it from there.
"I'm enthusiastic, I've got determination, I've got work rate and I score goals.
"So far this season has been really good. I've scored 19, hopefully I can improve that with Scunthorpe.
"I'm just going to take it as it comes.
"I'll take my first week, see where I stand and then set my aims from there.
"I'm really looking forward to it. I can't wait for it to kick off on Monday, a full week's training, then see what happens.
"The gaffer told me his plans so I feel confident with him being there as well.
"Obviously they have brought me in to help and to improve the squad, and hopefully I'll be able to do that."
Jennings' exploits this term had attracted interest from a number of clubs before a move to Glanford Park was agreed.
It was the chance to work with Alan Knill, he says, which swayed his decision.
"I met up with the gaffer and he told me a bit about himself and his plans for the future and I was impressed by it," said Jennings.
"I wanted to sign.
"I've heard there were a few clubs interested, but that's all behind me now, I've signed for Scunthorpe.
"I'm happy with my decision.
"It sort of came out of the blue. I just thought it was all speculation and nothing would come of it, then it all happened so quick.
"It's still a bit surreal but I'm here now.
"I feel incredible.
"I trained today and it was really good, I really enjoyed it. I'm still buzzing over it really.
"The lads were great. They made me feel comfortable so there are no nerves there.
"I feel settled in already."
Iron boss Knill accepts taking a punt on a player from two levels below the Football League is a gamble.
But he is prepared to put in the effort with Jennings to ensure it is one which eventually pays off.
"I think as with everything, there's no guarantee. It's not as if he's come in with a great CV, but we're hopeful he's going to have a great CV," said the manager.
"He's got good movement, which is the first thing that we noticed, and if you see his record, he can put the ball in the back of the net.
"He trained with us today and doesn't look out of place one bit, so I'm delighted.
"We're giving him a chance to prove himself and I'm hopeful he's going to take it.
"He's got quite a few ingredients that we like, and I think the first is that he's hungry. He wants to improve, he wants to be better and he wants to have a career.
"Then he has pretty good talent after that. Technically he's really good and quick, so we're hopeful it will work out for him and work out for us.
"We'll do everything possible to give him that chance.
"He can play a number of positions as well. He's not just a centre forward, he can play anywhere in the front three and I've seen him play in a diamond.
"He comes with a knowledge of how to play those systems so hopefully we don't have to teach him too much.
"He obviously sees past strikers here, what's happened to them and where they are, and we sold him exactly the same – if you come here and do well, it's a stepping stone.
"We'll do everything possible to get him to wherever he wants to go."

“Barely looks old enough to be allowed out on his own!
It will be crucial to get good supply to him so that he can get off the mark quickly and build his confidence. Hopefully we will be treated to some decent front play in this new year. We've waited long enough for it. Good luck Connor.”
