Scunthorpe Utd: O'Connor not expected to make deadline day move
Scunthorpe United general manager David Beeby says it would be a 'surprise' if Michael O'Connor made a transfer deadline day move tomorrow.
Scottish Premier League side Hibernian are rumoured to have made a bid for the Iron midfielder, but Beeby refused to confirm or deny whether that was the case.

INTEREST: Hibs are rumoured to have made a bid for Scunthorpe midfielder Michael O'Connor
"We generally don't talk about any transfer deals until they're completed," he said.
"Michael's still our player and, to be honest, I'd be surprised if he wasn't come the end of tomorrow.
"We wouldn't talk about any deal or offer received on any player. We only generally confirm either a signing or a departure as and when a deal is done.
"Read into that as you want, but I'd be surprised if Michael wasn't a Scunthorpe player come the end of tomorrow."
O'Connor is out of contract in the summer, with talks to agree a new deal having reached a stalemate.
Peterborough have previously expressed an interest in the Northern Irishman, while Beeby has stressed United have a wage structure which they are not prepared to break in order to keep him.

“Expatiron, yes we read the same player comments day after day.We are told wharton wants to hand over the reigns. Its a great shame he did not do this while we where still a championship club.If we are such a well run club why do we offload players for nothing when they have cost decent money. The club is in freefall and wharton apologists like yourself are happy to stand by and accept this.We are in real danger of swapping places with GTFC and i for one dont want this.We need a new chairman with passion and ambition to improve things on and off the pitch ,not to run the club as a hobby with a puppet board. This does not mean they will need to have money to burn or pay silly transfer fees, just show the fans they want SUFC to prosper not die as a club."UP THE IRON"!!!”

“Haven't you been reading the news ... our 'tightwad' chairman would like to hand over but no one is willing to take it on, anyone out there with money to burn please apply.”

“Beeby it is glaringly obvious to fans that we need to bring in a goalscorer and centre half. But you have once again failed to get proper cover.I would not be surprised if oconner was sold for another undisclosed derisory sum today.Time for our tightwad chairman to hand over the reigns to someone who really cares about SUFC because goings on at the club over the last two seasons show he does not care less about the club or the fans, lack of inward transfer activity this month will see us relegated."UP THE IRON"!!!”

“Sorry I do apologise, 30 months since we played Newcastle”

“The writing really was on the wall the minute Beeby opened his mouth. How galling is it that 18 months ago we were beating Newcastle and dominating teams with million pound players in their side, and now Bournemouth can pay £800k for a striker to help them push for a League One play-off place while we have something of a fire-sale (I say the term loosely since we have no quality to oust) while we can still recoup a degree of revenue.
Makes it so much more satisfying that Billy and Nigel are now reunited and destined to walk into the Premier League sunshine together.”

“"Midfielder O'Connor is out-of-contract in the summer, and the club would need to sell now to guarantee a transfer fee. BBC Humberside said on Tuesday morning that the Iron's board of directors were considering the bid."
Oh dear Mr Beeby.”
