New signing Jamie Reckord has been impressed with the Iron's affinity for attacking football despite their precarious position in the table.

Although it will be in defence where the Wolves loanee takes his place in the Scunthorpe United line-up, he hopes to assist their forward threat.

Hungry for games after struggling to break through at his parent club, Reckord insists there is no pressure in joining a team stuck at the wrong end of the table,

"It doesn't bother me where they are," said the 19-year-old.

"As long as we play well as a team, I hope the results will come through anyway.

"There's no pressure really.

"We just need to keep playing well and score a few goals then we'll fly up the table.

"They like to play football, and that's what I like from my point of view. I like to get on the ball and have options when you get on the ball.

"I'm just looking forward to playing.

"Hopefully I can get forward and join in with attacks and bring a bit more attacking threat.

"I like to get forward as a left-back and overlap a lot, so hopefully I can bring a bit more to the team."

On loan at Glanford Park for a month, Reckord admits he doesn't know what the future holds.

But intent on impressing both Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill and Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, he feels better equipped to do so following a spell at Northampton Town.

The England Under-17 international featured seven times for the Cobblers at the end of last season, and believes the experience will stand him in good stead for his time with the Iron.

"That was my first loan and it was allright," he said.

"I played a few games for them, but that was towards the end of the season.

"Obviously I was a bit nervous then, but that's my first loan out the way and now I'm here.

"It went okay at Northampton, to be fair, but hopefully I can move on.

"I'm at Scunthorpe now and I want to do well here.

"I've just got to wait and see what happens in the future.

"I'll just let my football do the talking, see what happens and go from there.

"I'm young, I just play my football and hopefully if I play well my football should come through.

"Obviously everyone has a point to prove and show what they've got, so as long as I get playing, hopefully that will just show.

"I'm happy to come to Scunthorpe, play well and do well for them.

"It's a great opportunity for myself to show them and show the gaffer I can play."

But with Eddie Nolan also vying for the left-back spot, Reckord accepts getting that chance may not be easy.

"He seems an allright guy and I've spoken to him a few times," he said.

"As a team, they seem like a group of allright players.

"There's obviously going to be competition all around the park.

"Everyone's fighting to be in the starting XI, so I've just got to wait and see.

"The longer I'm here, the more I'll gel and improve as a player.

"My first few days have been good.

"I'm just learning everyone's names, understand how they play and am just slowly getting used to everything."
