STRIKER Garry Thompson will continue his rehabilitation with a place in the starting line-up for Scunthorpe United's Lincs County Cup semi-final clash at Lincoln City tomorrow (3pm).

But the 30-year-old is unlikely to be risked for the full 90 minutes at Sincil Bank.

So far, the most he has been given is 45 minutes in the friendly at Gainsborough Trinity on Wednesday night.

"Garry had trained earlier on Wednesday and wanted to stay on longer at Gainsborough," said manager Alan Knill.

"He knows his own body best and he will be the one who directs us.

"But we did not want to push him too much at Gainsborough."

With Thompson having missed nearly all last season with groin trouble, United are hoping to nurse him to full fitness in time for the first game of this campaign at Wycombe, a fortnight today.

Two other Scunthorpe players who missed the Gainsborough visit as a precaution will also be missing again tomorrow.

They are new signing Jimmy Ryan (groin) and full-back Eddie Nolan (Achilles).

However, both are expected to be available for United's friendly at Rotherham next Wednesday.
