Scunthorpe Utd: Ticket sales 'on a par' with last League One term
SCUNTHORPE United are confident more than 2,000 fans will have renewed their season tickets by the end of the week.
And though the Iron accept they are unlikely to match the 3,400 supporters who had season tickets last term, they expect sales for 2011/12 to challenge the record number sold while the club have been in League One.

PLEASED: David Beeby.
The discount to renew tickets at a reduced rate ends on Thursday, after which they will then also be available to fans who did not have season tickets last term.
Going into a weekend in which the ticket office was open on Saturday to try to boost sales, United had sold 'about 1,600'.
General manager David Beeby is confident that figure will continue to rise.
"Sales have been okay, we're on a par with where we were the last time we were in League One," he said.
"We'd expect to sell in excess of 2,000 season tickets by the deadline. We're at about 1,600 now and last week we were selling more than 100 a day.
"We hope that will continue throughout the week, up until Thursday's deadline.
"I would have thought we'd have been at about 2,100 then."
Taking into account season tickets and half season tickets the year the Iron were last at this level, in 2008-09, the club sold more than 2,700 passes.
With the ticket office open until 7pm tomorrow and 8pm on Thursday, Beeby is expecting things to get even busier
"We would like to retain all season ticket holders, but we're being realistic," he explained.
"Usually the week before the deadline we're exceptionally busy.
"We have late night openings, so we might surprise ourselves and go higher than last time."

“im a hartlepool supporter our tickets are £100 for season and we have already sold nearly 3000 last year they were £220 and sold 1200 not much coming in but the extra people thro the turnstyles will bring in more cash into the club.
good luck for season think it gonna be harder for you to go back up”

“We could sell 600 season ticket sales, sign no one and start the season with Jerry in goal and Uniteds press officer would ensure SET printed exactly what he wanted.
We SHOULD have sold 6,000 season tickets having won the title in 2007 - a new stand, a stregnthened squad and a positive attitude, combined with affordable one to five year season tickets would have capitalised on this success but we didnt...what we did as the same as every close season - WE PUT OUR FEET UP.
People buy into the team but no one has ever bought into the idea of SUFc as a club.”

“Mr Beeby, try not to be too complacent by hopefully selling 2000 tickets. How many of these tickets are the 36 quid ones for under 16,s.Try getting your chairman to back the manager improve the ground and pray that one day we will get a forward thinking chairman/board.I will be selecting my games very carefully this season after 40 years of support,if you treat the fans with contempt this club will go back to the 70,s era.The fans deserve better.WHARTON OUT! "UP THE IRON"!!!”

“Cant see many paying on the day at the prices we charge...the ONLY way to get a decent price is a season ticket, they have supporters over a barrell by making it super difficult to pay at the turnstile.
Instead of patting themselves on the back at losing 1,600 supporters, perhaps the club should be looking more inwardly at the manner in which it operates off the pitch...plenty of smaller clubs than us appear to manage it. Following SUFC beyond the team is like watching a nil nil draw on Ceefax, simply nothing to get excited about.
"We have late night openings, so we might surprise ourselves and go higher than last time."....the deadline is Friday so perhaps its time to make a desicion on this?
