Scunthorpe Utd: I know what I want to stay with Iron – O'Connor
Michael O'Connor has reiterated his desire to stay at Glanford Park – if the club can match his financial requests.
The midfielder's current deal expires next summer and United have been looking to tie him to a new one to prevent the 23-year-old walking away for nothing.

However, wages continue to be a stumbling block when it comes to the two parties reaching an agreement.
"I haven't spoken to the chairman or Dave Beeby (general manager) in the last three or four weeks so hopefully they're thinking about what I want," said O'Connor.
"I know what I want. They weren't far off with the last offer they gave me, it's just a little bit more to push it over the line.
"But they haven't got back to me yet so I'm just waiting to see what happens.
"At the moment I'm just concentrating on my football. I put it to the back of my mind.
"I've said it before, I do want to stay here. I'm not just saying that – I'm settled here.
"But I need to have the right money to stay here. I've got young kids and I need to sort their future out as well.
"At the minute it's ongoing.
"They have come in with two or three different offers. The last one they offered me was close, it's just a little bit to push it over the line.
"We'll see what happens. Hopefully they'll have a think and come back with what I want."

“Dear mr OConnor
I too have a wife and kids to support and I do so on far lower wages than you get.
If the offer is very close to what you want and you really do want to stay here then prove it by lowering your demands a little.”

“He can go for all I care, the other midfield players we have are better any way. At least he won't be signing for GRIMsby, will he?”

“Why would he be talking to Billy Sharp? The two have never even played in the same team so its highly unlikely they are close friends.”

“I never thought that I would ever see the day when carllewis2010 and oscarmoggie EVER AGREED ON ANY GIVEN SUBJECT, this is the first time in three years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought that I was seeing a burning bush, it would probably be more common than this agreement ha ha!
It sure is a funny week for all, I even made the Tuesday night trip from Barton to Scunny to see the Paint Trophy game V Oldham, got there but I was a week early !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Yeah, trouble is that O'Connor has been consistently inconsistent with his attitude, and performances. He could become a good player but it won't be with us because his heart is not in it .”

“I agree Carl Lewis, looks to me as if he's off and going to make Wharton his scapegoat.
A story along the lines of 'I really want to stop at this fantastic club, with it's famtastic supporters but I have a family to consider and although my demands weren't much more than I'm on now, the club wouldn't meet them'
Very similar to the Hayes scenario, only difference being Hayes didn't owe the club anything, I think O'connor does.
Beware of your agent Mr O'Connor, Mr Wright left for better fields in the summer but I don't think he's earning a wage at the moment.”

“If your performances matched your demands then the club should give you this contract. But i am afraid you are just in it for the money and dont give a stuff about the supporters or club.Too much agent influence and greed in the modern game is ruining football,Knill needs to get rid in january for the right money and buy somebody who does not think he is bigger than our club."UP THE IRON"!!!!”
