On-loan defender Shane Duffy has been impressed with the standard of football in League One.

But the Everton centre-back nevertheless believes it is a level which does not suit Scunthorpe United.

Duffy's loan spell at Glanford Park has been extended by another month from today, and he has high hopes for what the Iron can achieve.

"There are a few good teams in the division and some teams that shouldn't be in it but are – like ourselves," said the Irishman.

"I don't think we should be in it, I think we're better than League One.

"It's a good league but hopefully we can get out of it.

"The players here are brilliant.

"We can definitely get better. We're playing great football, like against Sheffield United, in the first half we absolutely battered them and they're near the top of the league.

"I think it can just get better and better."

Iron manager Alan Knill is pleased to have acquired the services of Duffy for another month.

"I'm delighted," he said. "He's a good player.

"And to be fair, we're not surprised he's good because I've seen him quite a lot of times.

"I think he's getting better and that's the best thing.

"The more he plays in the league, the better he'll become.

"We've been delighted with him. The ball was like a magnet when it came across to him on Saturday (against Yeovil Town), he just put his head on it."
