Scunthorpe area X Factor star Jake Quickenden tuned in for successful 2013
Things are looking good in 2013 for Jake Quickenden of Bottesford - following his success in last year's X-Factor TV talent show.
The singer and Scunthorpe Pods leisure centre worker made it through the live auditions and boot camp stages, progressing as far as Judges' Houses.
The 24-year-old then performed in Dubai for X-Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger and US singer Ne-Yo, before the pair decided he was not yet quite ready for the next step.
Jake, however, saw his X-Factor journey as just the start, and in December his first single 'Mile High' reached the Official UK Top 100 Chart.

His debut single peaked inside the Top 30 iTunes downloads, and entered the Top 100 Singles chart at number 95.
The song was backed on Twitter by eventual X-Factor winner James Arthur.
Jake has said in interviews that he plans to return to the ITV competition in 2013, unless he has already made it in the music industry by then.
In November he performed at the Scunthorpe Christmas lights switch-on, drawing a big crowd of people keen to see the local star.
He also performed at the Baths Hall in Scunthorpe at the North Lincolnshire Community Champion Awards at the end of November.

“having worked in many areas of the entertainment industry, including experience in TV, Radio and recording studios I do know a little. In the clubs I came across better singers most weeks and, unlike some, I'm happy to put my name to my comments rather than hide behind a pseudonym.”

“Do you really all have nothing better to do than add pointless, mind numbing, self worthy, judgemental comments about somebody who is genuinely trying to make something of himself. He's not actually used the Telegraph for publicity, they have used him. If you have no real fact to back up your insultive drivel, then please refrain from posting such utter cr*p. I sincerely hope you give your own family and friends a little more support when they try achieve something in life.
Let him try build his dream while you are left stuck posting comments on a Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph story.”

“... and why exactly are "things looking good"? There's absolutely no mention of any future "what he's going to do"”

“The Telegraph is damaging any music career he may have every time they print him up as an 'X Factor star" ... ALL credibility drains away”

“Normanengland's right. He tried and lost.
Obviously he just wasn't good enough.
The Telegraph isn't doing him any favours by constantly reinforcing his delusions that he is some kind of "star" in the making.
He needs a reality check. He's not any sort of celebrity and needs to focus on getting himself a proper job.”

“Am I the only one who is getting a little tired of this guy constantly being referred to as an 'X Factor star'.
He is an average singer (at best) who got booted out before the live shows started. Hardly being a star of the show is it. Is this town so devoid of real talent or is it just the the SET staff are unable to recognise real talent.”
