“Call me sceptical but could some of it also be our welfare state offerings that people are taking the opportunity to join this society and become citizens of the UK”

“As a member of this society with all its problems and pressures on spending it always comes as a surprise when people want to officially become part of it. Things do always look different when looking in as an outsider, but it serves as a reminder that 1) there must be some positive aspects to this society of ours and 2) there must be some places which are worse than this. Those people who have therefore chosen to take the citizenship tests (which many lifelong Britishers fail to answer sufficiently well to pass) should be applauded and booked to teach the rest of us exactly what being British means. Well done to them.”
