Scunthorpe grandmother wins £100,000 Health Lottery prize
A grandmother from Scunthorpe has won the £100,000 top prize on the Health Lottery.
The 74-year-old woman used her late husband’s lucky numbers, and won the cash in the draw on Saturday, February 11.
After matching all five numbers during the Saturday night draw on Channel 5, the winner, who does not wish to be named, had to call her daughter to check she was not seeing things.
She said: “I had to ask my daughter to come and check them for me. I just couldn’t believe they all matched.”
The winner has played the Health Lottery every week since launch using her late husband’s lucky numbers and they have finally paid off.
The winner’s daughter said: “‘Dad always said he’d win the lottery. Mum has carried on playing them ever since he passed away. Finally they’ve come up!”
At first she thought she’d won £1000, it was only when her daughter went online to check the numbers for her and explained that it was £100,000 that she realised the extent of her prize. The winner plans to share her windfall amongst her family.
Martin Hall, CEO of The Health Lottery said: “So far there have been 289,000 winning tickets on the Health Lottery and this is another wonderful story where the money won will make a big difference to a whole family. That local health good causes will also benefit is, for the winners, the icing on the cake.”
Over 8,500 people also enjoyed wins of either £50 or £500 in the draw last week. There have already been £22 million in prizes won so far, plus over £10 million has been raised for health related good causes.
