Scunthorpe householders left without water for several hours after burst main
Anglian Water today issued further information about yesterday's flooding in Melford Court, Scunthorpe, caused by a burst water main, which resulted in some households being left without water for several hours.
Humberside firefighters attended and used a pump and salvage sheets, leaving the incident with Anglian Water.

A spokesman for the utility company said today that the initial report made by a member of the public suggested a trickling leak, which was therefore treated as being relatively low priority.
However, further reports said the situation had worsened.

The spokesman said that information increased the priority and someone was at the scene within 20 minutes, soon isolating the burst.
That left some properties without water but supplies were restored by mid-afternoon.
Anglian Water said it wanted to apologise to those customers who had to go without water.
The company also thanked those who had reported the fault.
"This is very important," said the spokesman. "Customers are our eyes and ears."
He added that Anglian Water had been able to stop the water before it flooded any properties.
