Former Scunthorpe pupil given knighthood set to visit his old school
A FORMER Scunthorpe pupil knighted by the Queen is returning to North Lincolnshire to visit his old school.
Sir Peter Birkett, who received his knighthood in the 2012 Birthday Honours List, is a former student of Frederick Gough School, on Grange Lane South in Scunthorpe.

Sir Peter was given a knighthood for services to Further Education and the Academy Movement.
He will return on Friday, March 22 to visit students at staff at his former school as part of 'Challenge Day' - an event designed to inspire current students.
