Scunthorpe really needs two hours' free parking
SCUNTHORPE needs all the help possible to try to revive it. Two hours' free parking will definitely help.
As a business owner – Hair At Salvatore – we speak to lots of clients who say they only come to Scunthorpe, have their hair done and shop elsewhere because of the free parking out of town.

Brigg has two hours' parking and while we are happy for them, we feel this is unfair trading.
Brigg is still under North Lincolnshire Council so as I would understand the funding comes out of the same pot.

There are 35 members of staff working in our salon but unfortunately if something is not done and soon to help the town centre, we will not be able to support them all.
Please, please, give us two hours free parking. And don't make clients buy a newspaper to do it.

“What's that to do with free parking? As far as I can remember it is decades since we had free parking in Scunthorpe. Also when you compare the cost of parking to places like Grimsby and Doncaster it is also quite reasonable, although I must admit they have a far greater choice of quality shops.”

“So you are saying that because the Council do not provide free parking that people do not shop there? I think its because the choice of shops is pathetic. I cannot think of another town in the country of similar size to Scunthorpe provides free parking. In fact most other places charge 2 - 3 times the amount it costs here. Another excuse for shutting down and blaming others in my opinion.”
