Scunthorpe speedway trio join the field for David Howe Testimonial on March 24 at Eddie Wright Raceway
Speedway rider David Howe has added three of his team-mates at Scunthorpe to the field for his Testimonial on Sunday, March 24 – Josh Auty, Ashley Birks and Michael Palm Toft.
Both of the English boys owned up to being fans of David even before they were riders themselves.

Scunthorpe speedway star David Howe has been granted a testimonial on March 24
Josh said: "As long as I’ve been a speedway supporter, David has been a well-respected rider, he’s ridden for his country, been a good performer in the Elite League, so he’s had a really good career. It’s just a shame he wasn’t involved as much as he would have liked to be last year to win the league with Scunthorpe.
"Nonetheless he has been a good servant to Scunthorpe and British Speedway."

Ashley Birks has been racing in New Zealand but will be back well in time for the big event.
He said: "Obviously I used to watch speedway a lot before I rode, and when I was first riding at Sheffield I looked up to Shane Parker as No. 1. He was the one I asked for information, and last year it was the same thing at Scunthorpe with David. Obviously it was a shame he got injured but he was still at the meetings and he was still the one to ask. He’s a really nice guy and has a really good family.
"I’ve watched the sport for a long time, I used to watch David and Simon Stead in the Under-21s.
From Denmark Michael Palm Toft expressed similar views.
"I think I rode with David for a year and a half, he has been good to me and helping me a lot, with bike setups and getting in the team.
"I definitely enjoyed riding with him, he is a cool rider and a good team mate. Of and on the track he is the same guy. He has been really looking out for me so I am looking forward to riding in his Testimonial."
The meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway, Scunthorpe, will start at 3pm.
Riders announced so far: Simon Stead (Sheffield & King’s Lynn), Olly Allen (Rye House), Mads Korneliussen (King’s Lynn), Kevin Doolan and Kauko Nieminen (Leicester), Josh Auty, Michael Palm Toft and Ashley Birks (Scunthorpe).
