Scunthorpe store closed by flooding as Brigg area remains on alert over Ancholme
The Clinton Cards store on Scunthorpe High Street has closed due to flooding.
Signs on the store windows today (Thursday) say the shop will reopen on Saturday.
Some concerns remain about the high level of the River Ancholme today (Wednesday) following further heather rain, although no flood warning has been issued by the Environment Agency.
In Brigg at 8am - close to Barnard Avenue - a team of workmen was standing by near the Old River Ancholme.

The river came over the towpath at this point on Monday, but early today a repeat seemed unlikely.
On the boundary between Brigg and Scawby Brook, there was no repeat flooding of the Ancholme Leisure Centre car park overnight, the entire area having been overrun by the New River Ancholme at the beginning of the week.
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service had no flooding-related call outs last night or early today.

“The last time I went to Clintons cards and found it closed was because some poor woman's colostomy bag had burst and was all over the floor!”
