Maintaining their quality play, the home quartet finished the game with a dominant 36-11 victory.

Bill Hutson, Ian Pringle, John Rayner and Phil Boulton found themselves 7-1 in the lead in the early stages and by the halfway point had extended that to 11-4.

Scoring on seven out of the remaining 10 ends, the Scunthorpe four increased their advantage and ran out 30-7 winners.

The home four of Alan Trown, Peter Bennett, Len Lammas and John Hopkinson got off to a steady start, with a three-all scoreline early in their match.

But by the mid-point in this battle they had managed to get their noses in front, 12-7.

The Scunthorpe rink continued to apply unrelenting pressure with some excellent bowling, managing to procure an excellent 31-9 victory.

Also obtaining an early advantage was the rink of Vinny Bolton, Stan Shellard, Tom Whiteley and Ray Robinson.

Building on a 5-1 lead they continued to produce some excellent bowls and extended it to 11-5 by the mid-point.

Striding out for the finishing line, the home quartet maintained their hold on the game and secured another rink victory by 20 shots to 10.

The final Scunthorpe rink of Bill Jackson, Gordon Bissett, Warwick Wooldridge and Neil Rowe found their visiting opponents in good form, trailing 5-2 early on.

Things did not get much better for the home rink, with the visitors increasing their advantage to 13-3.

Trying desperately hard to get back into the game, the Scunthorpe quartet battled on but were unable to stop the Dunholme rink from taking the victory, 26-9.

This ended another excellent overall result for the Scunthorpe team, who now look forward to another home match, against Skegness.
