Shooters to hold fire
DUE to severe weather, the UK's largest shooting organisation, the British Association For Shooting And Conservation (BASC) is calling for shooters in England and Wales to exercise restraint in the shooting of ducks, geese and waders.
Voluntary restraint should be applied where feeding or roosting is affected by snow and ice, and individuals should be on the look-out for unusual movements or behaviour of waterfowl which may be caused by the conditions.

“I'm sure the birds will be grateful for the suspension in shooting, this will give them a few days rest before they are blasted out of the skies in the name of this so called 'sport'.
What hypocrites these shooting people are, they claim to care about the birds etc, but wait until the ban is lifted, then they will be out in the fields as quick as a flash to blast the birds to pieces.”
