Decisions are due this week on two Scunthorpe planning applications that have created significant public interest in the Ashby Road area of town.

There are concerns about parking and additional traffic being generated.

The Gresham Lodge application has resulted in five letters to the council.

One believes "commercial development" is out of keeping with the character of the surrounding area.

It is also being suggested the gardens are part of the character of the area and should be retained.

The planning committee made up of elected councillors from across the district will meet on Wednesday (March 13) from 2pm at Scunthorpe Civic Centre, off Ashby Road.

Interested members of the public are welcome to attend.

Seven other applications are to be considered by the committee:

HORKSTOW: Erect a 57m high wind turbine with associated infrastructure, north of Hall Farm Cottage, Main Street.

CLEATHAM: Vary planning condition 10 to allow a marquee to be sited 12 times a year, Cleatham Hall.

HAXEY: Prior approval of proposed demolition of Hallcroft House, 1-20 Hallcroft Close.

BURTON STATHER: Erect a first floor extension, 28 Holme Drive.

GOXHILL: Outline permission to erect a detached two-storey dwelling, land adjacent to Oakroyd, North End.

HIBALDSTOW: Erect a two-storey extension to the rear and a detached garage, 119 Station Road.

BOTTESFORD: Erect two-storey and single-storey side extensions, 45 Quebec Road.
