Signs are 'very encouraging' that Scunthorpe United will be able to call on Akpo Sodje at weekend
SCUNTHORPE United are hopeful Akpo Sodje’s ankle injury will not rule him out of Saturday’s League One clash with Hartlepool United.
The 33-year-old suffered the problem during Saturday’s defeat at Yeovil Town and had to be substituted early on in the second half, writes Kristian Bamforth.

Akpo Sodje suffered an ankle injury during Scunthorpe United's defeat at Yeovil Town last Saturday.
The incident was the main talking point of the 3-0 loss as Sodje appeared to be fouled by Glovers defender Byron Webster as he went through on goal, yet referee Dean Whitestone failed to award the Iron a free-kick.
“He’s sore, as you would expect from the challenge he received - even though the referee didn't think there was a challenge,” boss Brian Laws said today.

“He’s had a scan since Saturday and all seems to be okay so we’ll see how he gets on at the end of the week.”
When asked if Sodje would feature this weekend, against Pools – one of the Iron’s relegation rivals – Laws replied: “We’re hoping so, because he’s going to be a better player for us in the team rather than sat in the stands.
“We’d like to think he'll be okay. We've still got a few days before we pick our team but certainly the signs are very encouraging.”
