Sir John Nelthorpe is in top six specialist schools
A BRIGG secondary school has been named among the top six specialist schools and academies in the country for achieving high GCSE exam results in 2009.
Sir John Nelthorpe School, Brigg, was invited by the Specialist Schools Trust to a special ceremony and dinner in London, where 18 schools nationally were recognised.

The school was in the top six specialist schools which achieved the greatest percentage increase in their five+A*-C results including English and mathematics.
And the top six for the greatest percentage increases in the same year in the following areas:
Two+A*-C results in science subjects to attain 53.7 per cent (national average) or more
One+A*-C results in modern foreign languages to attain 31.6 per cent (national average) or more in 2009.
Headteacher Linda Hewlett-Parker was thrilled with the news.
She said: "The schools success is down to the superb teaching of the staff and the commitment that they and the students put in."
Elizabeth Reid, chief executive of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, congratulated all schools.
She said: "It is important we celebrate these achievements as they are the product of hard work and dedication by school leaders, teachers and students."
Schools Minister Vernon Coaker said: "It's encouraging to see so many specialist schools and academies achieving such high standards – a tribute to the hard work of pupils, teachers and schools."
