Special award for Scunthorpe Football League official Ray Hewson after 50 years
Scunthorpe Saturday Football League chairman Ray Hewson has received a special award in recognition of his 50 years' service to football.
From forming a team in 1958 to becoming vice-chairman of the Lincolnshire Football Association in 2007, Hewson has enjoyed a long and varied career in the sport.

And, as he makes clear, is still very much going strong.
"These sort of things, if you don't enjoy them, you stop doing it," said Hewson, who was presented with his award at the Lincs FA's AGM.

"I've made some great friends over the years.
"I had 21 years as chairman of the Jack Kalson League and being involved with the youngsters, and also with the county youngsters, that's where a lot of my enjoyment comes from.
"I'm very pleased to get the award.
"I played school football, then I started a team in 1958, but never thought I'd still be going strong now."
Hewson has been Saturday League chairman for the last 10 years and also holds the same post in county cup competitions as well as having become chairman of a new committee for disability football in Lincolnshire in 2003.
